One of the most popular volunteer programs at UC San Diego Medical Center is the Cuddler Program, which gives volunteers the opportunity to help nursing staff rock, hold, feed and change the diapers of the hospital’s tiniest patients.

The power of touch has been found to improve the vital signs, neurodevelopmental outcomes and growth of premature babies. And for those doing the cuddling, the personal rewards have been boundless.
